When will I receive Zoom information?

You will receive information with a Zoom link 2 days ahead of the retreat through Zeffy, our official registration system. Check your email for information about paying the balance of your fee so that you receive join instructions.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to join this retreat?

Accepted Answer

No. We seek to make meditation practice accessible to all. It is our wish to help everyone find their true direction and to save all beings from suffering. Therefore, people of all faiths as well as secular practitioners are welcome to our Sangha (Zen Buddhist community).

Where are you located?

Providence Zen Center is located in Cumberland, Rhode Island, 15 miles north of Providence, RI and 35 miles south of Boston. You will be joining us in our beautiful dharma hall, with a view of teachers and other participants.

Question 4

Is there a dress code?

We suggest that remote participants wear neutral, comfortable clothing.

Question 5

Will I have to sit on the floor to meditate?

Accepted Answer

In our school, we alternate between 25 minute sitting meditation and 10 minute walking meditation periods. You may sit on a cushion or in a chair.

Question 6

Is the retreat silent?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the retreat is silent except for teacher interviews and talks. Join from a meditative, private space where you will not be disturbed. We recommend joining from a computer or tablet with webcam on.

Question 7

What about lunch?

Our retreats are vegetarian.  It is suggested that you prepare a vegetarian lunch at home.
