Open House at the Outdoor Activity Center
Visit the Outdoor Activity Center and the 25-acre old-growth forest. Hear the history from staff & take a self-guided walk on the trails.
We invite you to the wonderful world of the Outdoor Activity Center as it celebrates 50+ years of existence! Each Saturday*, we host an open house for visitors to check out the nature center and adjacent forest.
Visitors will hear about the history of the Outdoor Activity Center, and are also welcome to take a self-guided hike along the trails in an old-growth forest. On the trails, visitors will have a chance to meet a centenarian tree named Grandfather Beech, stand on the Black Cracker Practice Field-- where the Negro League Baseball team once played, get a glimpse of the former historic Hartnett School and Bush Mountain, one of the longest running Black communities in Atlanta, and enjoy the native flora and fauna of the Piedmont Region of Georgia.
Come see us!
*We are closed on some Saturdays for holidays and private rentals. Please confirm that we are open before visiting.
