Cruise the Patuxent River to view active Osprey nests and learn from one of the region's leading Osprey researchers.
Join DC Bird Alliance for a truly special opportunity on the water with Greg Kearns of Patuxent River Park, one of the few people in the United States licensed to band Ospreys for research and conservation.
We'll travel by boat through Jug Bay to observe active Osprey nests and learn about the remarkable lives of these iconic fish-eating raptors. Along the way, Greg will share insights from decades of field experience, including Osprey migration, nesting behavior, banding research, population trends, and the conservation efforts helping these birds thrive throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
Seeing Ospreys soaring overhead is one thing. Seeing their nests up close and learning directly from a researcher who has spent years studying and protecting them is an entirely different experience.
This intimate outing offers a unique opportunity to connect with one of the Chesapeake Bay region's most recognizable birds while gaining a deeper understanding of the waterways, fisheries, and habitats that support them.
Space is extremely limited to ensure a high-quality experience for participants and minimal disturbance to wildlife.
