Join us for a hands-on Backpacking Cooking Course with renowned Chef Sean Wilson from CSW Catering, where you’ll learn how to prepare real meals in the backcountry using lightweight, practical systems.

Want to know what to actually eat on a backpacking trip? This is where it comes together. This isn’t basecamp cooking — it’s built specifically for backpacking.

We’ll cover how to create simple, high-calorie meals using ingredients that are easy to find, easy to carry, easy to prepare, and actually taste amazing after a long day on the trail.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to build meals using a mix of grocery store items, dehydrated & freeze-dried foods, and backpacking staples — all while understanding how to balance weight, calories, and flavor.

Planned delicacies:
• Bacon Cheddar “Grits”
• Mediterranean Couscous Pilaf
• Coconut Curry Chicken & Fried Rice
• Orange Peel Beef & Veggie Lo Mein
• Chili Mac & Cheese
• Strawberry “Shortcake”

We’ll also cover key concepts like:
• One-pot vs multi-pot cooking
• Calorie-to-weight efficiency
• Pre-prep vs no-prep strategies
• Freeze-dried vs store-bought foods
• Adding fats, texture, and flavor
• Building meals from simple ingredients

All food included.

Learn from Chef Wilson and enjoy a day of amazing outdoor tastes and smells. This course is designed for anyone looking to improve their backpacking setup, eat better on the trail, and build confidence cooking in the backcountry.

Minimum Age: 12 years old - the minor(s) and a parent/guardian must all be paid registered participants.
