Oyster Shell Move & Nature Walk at Heron's Head Park

Oyster Shell Move & Nature Walk at Heron's Head Park

480 Amador StSan Francisco, CA
Overview

Join us to go on a nature walk and help us move recycled oyster shells!

About:

Join us to move shell and go on a nature walk at Herons Head Park! We need to move shell into new long term storage containers and we will also go on a nature walk at Herons Head Park to see the Oyster Reefs Balls that the SF Port put in and we donated shell for!

Shell recycling is important step in restoring oyster populations that are at 1% of their historic levels. Oyster larvae are already free swimming in the water but they need something to attach to, and will always seek out oyster shells to attach to and grow! Oysters are critical because they filter water, enhance biodiversity and protect shorelines from erosion.

Read more about us and our shell recycling program here!: wildoysters.org/shell-recycling. Come out and help our oysters!! 🦪🦪
