Grab a paddle and help clean up the harbor while enjoying some good vibes and fresh air.
On Saturday, June 27 from 10:00am to approximately 12:00pm, the Accabonac Protection Committee will be hosting a paddle and trash pick-up event on Accabonac Harbor. It will be led by Evelyn O’Doherty, a local SUP legend here on the East End, and APC board member Jody Sutter.
Bring your SUP board or kayak and meet us at the kayak launch at the end of Landing Lane. We'll then go on an easy-to-moderate paddle through Accabonac Harbor and over to Merrill Lake Sanctuary where we'll disembark and do our part to keep this special place beautiful and pristine by picking up trash and debris that have collected there over time.
We suggest wearing shoes that make it easy to go from water to land as well as clothing that protects you from sun on the water and ticks on land.
We'll provide the garbage bags for collecting refuse.
A few important things to note:
- There's plenty of free parking at the end of Landing Lane HOWEVER it does require an East Hampton Town parking permit.
- NYS requires paddlers and kayakers to wear or carry a suitabler personal flotation device (PFD). Bring your own (we will not be providing them). You won't be able to join us without one.
- Everyone participating will be required to sign a liability waiver before getting on the water.
