A practical 4-hour workshop giving law enforcement supervisors the tools to conduct performance evaluations that are accurate, documented, a

Law enforcement supervisors are under more pressure than ever to document performance, manage difficult employees, and justify personnel decisions. Yet most were never formally trained on how to conduct a performance review that actually works.

A poorly structured review leaves low performers in place, frustrates strong performers, and creates problems when a personnel decision gets challenged. The fix is not a new form. It is a structured process, and that is what this course delivers.

Performance Reviews for Law Enforcement Supervisors is a 4-hour live online workshop designed specifically for law enforcement leaders. Using interactive instruction and real law enforcement scenarios, Dr. Michael P. Evans guides supervisors through every stage of the review process with practical tools they can apply immediately, whether the employee is a top performer, a marginal one, or someone who has completely checked out.

What You Will Learn

  • How to structure a performance review discussion that is clear, documented, and defensible
  • How to measure performance objectively across different roles and performance levels
  • How to facilitate self-evaluations that improve accountability and reduce conflict
  • How to set developmental expectations that motivate strong performers and correct weak ones
  • Documentation requirements and practical guidance for both new and experienced supervisors
  • How to handle the communication challenges that make most review conversations uncomfortable
  • Scenario-based instruction covering the marginal performer, the disengaged employee, and the problem employee

Who Should Attend This training is designed for law enforcement supervisors at all levels, including first-line supervisors conducting reviews for the first time, experienced supervisors looking to strengthen their documentation and process, and command staff responsible for performance management oversight. Both sworn and professional staff in supervisory roles will benefit.
