Overview

Celebrate Pollinator Week by joining us and Pollinator Partnership for a bioblitz at Bret Harte Elementary School!

Join us for round two of bioblitzing at Bret Harte Elementary School!

We will be joined by Pollinator Partnership who will co-lead iNaturalist tutorials and pollinator ID and exploration activities at Bret Harte.

June 22nd is the first day of Pollinator Week, an annual week of celebrations to bring awareness to the importance of pollinator conservation and education.

A bioblitz is a community science project in which participants identify as many species as possible in a short time frame. This helps with monitoring of endangered species, developing an understanding of local biodiversity, and guiding conservation efforts.

This workday is part of a series of workdays at four San Francisco Unified School District Green Schoolyard projects we are working on in collaboration with SFUSD, CalFire, and other local partners.

Event Leaders: Ella Bhat, Rachel Maunus, Maddie Dong, Avery Roe

Ella and Rachel are Nature in the City’s Green Schoolyard Program leads and are in the process of building a long-term stewardship programs at four SFUSD schools. They are working closely with school staff and community members to increase equitable knowledge of and access to green spaces in the neighborhood.

Maddie and Avery are the Communications Coordinator and Program Associate at Pollinator Partnership, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conservation, education, and research across North America. They will be helping participants identify and explore all of the pollinators at the newly built green schoolyard at Bret Harte.
