PSNY LGBTQIA+ Free Verse Workshop: Diving into the Wreck

PSNY LGBTQIA+ Free Verse Workshop: Diving into the Wreck

Online event
Overview

Join us at August 2026's Free Verse Virtual Workshop for LGBTQIA+ Creatives with Aimee Herman!

A free generative virtual workshop for LGBTQIA+ Creatives with poet Aimee Herman!

This generative hybrid writing workshop will study some of the work of queer and trans writers who paved the way for us to dig out our own. Writing prompts will be inspired by the work of Audre Lorde, Adrienne Rich, and June Jordan, among others. We will write, share, and leave this workshop with several routes toward further exploration.

About the instructor: Aimee Herman is a gay, trans writer and educator. They are the author of the novel Everything Grows (Three Rooms Press) and two full length books of poems, meant to wake up feeling (great weather for MEDIA) and to go without blinking (BlazeVOX books), in addition to being widely published in journals and anthologies including BOMB, cream city review, and "Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics" (Nightboat Books). They currently host various literary series and writing workshops specifically for queer and trans voices. Aimee plays ukulele in the poetry band, "Brand New Queers". They are turned on by public libraries, garage sales, and receiving mail. Find them at aimeeherman.com.
