PSNY Virtual Workshop: Give Me a World: Writing Worldbuilding Poetry

PSNY Virtual Workshop: Give Me a World: Writing Worldbuilding Poetry

Online event
Overview

Part of The Poetry Society of New York's Weekly Virtual Workshop Series.

An all-levels generative virtual workshop with poet Sean Glatch!

Metaphor’s power rests in its transmogrifying capacities: in poetry, the sun is a penny, death is a drum, and so on. In this speculative poetry workshop, we will take metaphor to its logical extreme and construct new realities out of gossamer, learning something about our own world through the worlds we build and study. Together in our ephemeral Zoomscape, poets Angela Liu, Danez Smith, Paige Lewis, Kitchen McKeown, and others will inform how we imagine our worlds into existence. Open to poets of all practices!

About the Instructor: Sean Glatch is a queer poet, storyteller, and educator in New York City. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Ninth Letter, Strange Horizons, Milk Press, One Art, on local TV, in his ex’s Grindr bio, and elsewhere. Sean currently runs the creative writing school Writers.com and the forthcoming card game Poemancer. When he's not writing, which is often, he thinks he should be writing.

**This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
