PSNY Virtual Workshop: Integrating the Self Through Poetry

Online event
Overview

Part of The Poetry Society of New York's Weekly Virtual Workshop Series.

An all-levels generative virtual workshop with poet Ivy Johnson!

Parts Work and Personas: Integrating the Self Through Poetry

Which parts of yourself are you able to identify? What are their names? What are their desires, fears, loves, and aversions? How would you introduce them? In this course we will use an Internal Family Systems framework to inspire us in the creation of personas on the page. Poets Melissa Broder, Danez Smith, Dorothea Lasky, and Terrance Hayes are some of our possible guides.

About the Instructor: Ivy Johnson is a poet, educator, and writer between genres living in Oakland, CA, whose work moves between lyric, performance, and experimental prose. She is the author of Maiden, Mother, Crone (Clones Go Home Press), Born Again (The Operating System), The Third Thing (coauthored with Kate Robinson, Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs), Precious Moments (Sky Trail Press), and As They Fall (Timeless Infinite Light / Nightboat Books).

**This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
