For many of us, we grew up hearing that queerness was somehow "unnatural." But what if the natural world tells a very different story?
Join us for a special conversation with Eliot Schrefer (he/him), bestselling author of Queer Ducks (and Other Animals): The Natural World of Animal Sexuality 📚🦆. Through stories from across the animal kingdom—from birds and mammals to fish and insects—Eliot explores the remarkable diversity of queer behavior found throughout nature.
Feminist Bird Club believes birding and outdoor spaces should be places where people can bring their full selves. This Pride Month, we'll explore what the natural world can teach us about diversity, belonging, and the joy of being exactly who we are. 🌿💚
Together, we'll explore:
🦆 Queer behavior across the animal kingdom
🌈 What nature can teach us about diversity and belonging
🐦 How birds and wildlife challenge assumptions about sex, gender, and sexuality
💚 Finding joy, connection, and community in the natural world
Following a short presentation by Eliot, we will engage with him in a live community conversation and Q&A.
As with all FBC events, we especially welcome LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill community members, along with allies who share our values of inclusion, accessibility, curiosity, and care.
