What is the suggested audience age group for this event?

This event is suggested for adult audiences only as content will not be censored and explicit or mature topics may be explored.

Note that we will create additional book clubs inclusive of other age groups; if you are interested in starting a book club, please reach out!

What is linguistic accessibility like for this event?

While the discussions will be facilitated in English, participants are encouraged to request that the book club include books available in their preferred reading language.

What digital accessibility features will you be offering?

On zoom, we will enable closed captioning and encourage use of virtual backgrounds. Please reach out if there are further accessibility features that we can offer to improve your experience.

How will you create safety?

We have reviewed all settings in Zoom in order to make these meetings as secure as possible. We have disabled recording for all meetings, and only meeting hosts are able to share their screens. The book club coordinator is able to manage and remove participants as necessary.

How can I protect my own privacy?

On zoom, participants are able to control what name they display and whether or not they turn on their video. Participants will be able to leave and rejoin the conversation at any time. Please reach out if there are further steps we can take to make you feel safe/comfortable in this virtual space.

Do I need a Zoom account to participate?

Yes. In order to keep the meeting as secure as possible we ask that all participants be signed into a Zoom account in order to join the meeting. If this presents a barrier to access please reach out to us at programming@qtlibrary.org and we will work with you to find a solution.

Do I need to have read/finished the book in order to participate?

Nope! Reading/finishing the book is not a requirement to participate, although the discussion might contain spoilers…

When/how often will this book club meet?

The Queer Horror Book Club will meet on the third Tuesday or Wednesday of every other month.

How will future reading materials be selected?

Accepted Answer

Participants  in attendance at each book club will be able to vote to decide the next selection.
