This event is suggested for adult audiences only as content will not be censored and explicit or mature topics may be explored.

Note that we will create additional book clubs inclusive of other age groups; if you are interested in starting a book club, please reach out!

What is linguistic accessibility like for this event?

Accepted Answer

While the discussions will be facilitated in English, participants are encouraged to request that the book club include books available in their preferred reading language.

What digital accessibility features will you be offering?

On zoom, we will enable closed captioning and encourage use of virtual backgrounds. Please reach out if there are further accessibility features that we can offer to improve your experience.

How will you be creating safety?

Accepted Answer

On zoom, participants are able to control what name they display and whether or not they turn on their video. Participants will be able to leave and rejoin the conversation at any time. Please reach out if there are further steps we can take to make you feel safe/comfortable in this virtual space.

When/how often will this book club meet?

The Nonfiction Book Club will meet on the second Tuesday of every other month.

How will future reading materials be selected?

Accepted Answer

Participants will have the opportunity to suggest reading materials at the end of each discussion meeting and the group in attendance at that time will vote to decide the next selection.

Do I need to have read/finished the book in order to participate?

Accepted Answer

Nope! Reading/finishing the book is not a requirement to participate, although the discussion might contain spoilers…

Do I need a Zoom account to join the book club?

Accepted Answer

We ask all participants to use a Zoom account to join the meeting; this helps us keep our meetings secure. If creating a Zoom account presents a barrier for you, please email us at programming@qtlibrary.org so we can help find a solution.
