Reading the Water

Overview

Let’s take it to the next level by learning how to read water.

Now that you have learned the basics of fly fishing, let’s take it to the next level by learning how to read the water. Join the staff of the Pequest Natural Resource Education Center as they instruct you on a section of the Pequest River - helping you get a better understanding of where trout like to hang out, as well as their feeding habits.

Participants are required to have their own wading equipment (waders, wading boots).

This is not guided fishing.

Age Limits

For ages 12 years and above. Participants 16 years and younger must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Prerequisites

Participants should be comfortable outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Cancellations

NJ DEP Fish & Wildlife programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend so your space can be offered to someone else. You can cancel through Eventbrite or email us at pequest@dep.nj.gov. Programs at Pequest Natural Resource Education Center are RAIN or SHINE, but in the event of severe weather, classes may be canceled. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified by email as soon as possible.
