Rewilding: C3 Initiative

Rewilding: C3 Initiative

Overview

Plant Conservation & Community Gardening with Conservationist Zibby Foos

Rewilding is a prairie planting installation that activates We Still Here public artwork as a living monument. Featuring perennial native species, the installation reflects the rhythms of prairie life—emerging shoots, seasonal blooms, seed dispersal, and dormancy—tracing cycles of renewal and persistence inherent to prairie ecosystems. Through hands-on conservation and ongoing community care, the work evolves over time, embodying the dynamic relationship between land, art, and collective stewardship.

Led by Conservationist Zibby Foos of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s Chicago Conservation Corps, in partnership with Artists Sonja Henderson and Sadie Woods, and the Chicago Park District.
