Join Friends of the Kaw for on the water this summer to explore river related topics!

This event RIPARIAN FORESTS will be held on the Wakarusa River in kayaks with education happening on a sandbar. This is a 5-mile paddle on the Wakarusa River in Douglas County, west of Lawrence.

Join us and our special guest, Elizabeth “EJ” Jamison, Northeast District Forester with the Kansas Forest Service.

Options include: BYOB - bring your own boat; or Rent one of ours!

An email will be sent to participants within 48 hours of the event with all of the trip details.

NOTE: Refund are given up to 7 days before the event. If you cancel less than 7 days before the event, no refund will be given. If FOK cancels the event, all will receive a refund. We reserve the right to change the route and location for the trip if needed.

We have Staff and Kaw River Guides that are experienced paddlers and will be with you on the trip to help with anything you may need, including safety instruction. If you have never paddled before, we will give you instruction and be there with you on your first journey on the Kansas River.

We will organize a shuttle before the trip that includes making sure your vehicle is at the end location. More details to follow in the email that comes out two days before the trip.

No children age 5 and under. No pets. Lifejackets required.
