Rye Century Walk: Sandy Beach Becomes Parish of Rye in 1726

Learn how the village of Sandy Beach became the Parish of Rye in 1726 and what that meant for Rye Center and parish residents. The walk will take us in back of the church onto a trail connecting to Parsons Field where we can view the northern end of the historic district and then cross Washington Rd on crosswalk to access sidewalk and back to the church.

We will learn what the center looked like in earlier centuries and how it evolved into the lovely NE town center that we enjoy today. Park on right side of church in town parking lot. Meet in front of Rye Congregational Church.

Walk led by Town Historian Alex Herlihy.
