Project Information:

We will continue our work restoring and maintaining the trails within the Shellburg Falls recreation area. We will be working on a variety of tread work projects, including finishing a section of new trail that was started last year, brushing and maintaining trails, addressing some areas of trail that are too steep, and potentially installing gabions to shore up a section of trail that is too narrow. We will be using a variety of digging and brushing tools.

Hiking information:

The majority of the trails in Shellburg are well graded with an elevation gain of less than 500 feet on the steeper trails. Some of the trails have short, steep sections with a drop-off on one side.

You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

Event details:

What to bring:

• Plenty of water
• Snacks/lunch
• Work gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)
• Any medications or emergency supplies you may need
• Sunscreen + insect repellent
• A pack to bring all of this with you on trail
• TKO provides all tools and personal protective equipment (hard hats, gloves, glasses)

What to wear:

• Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended. Open-toed shoes will not be allowed.)
• Long sleeved shirts and pants
• Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, etc. as appropriate for the weather
