Join our current Hood Artist in Residence for a public outreach program!

Experience Level: Beginner

Slow down and discover the meditative art of embroidery at Slow Stitch Garden Studies on Thursday, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the Studio.

Current Hood Artist in Residence Hillary Waters Fayle will share a selection of basic embroidery stitches and techniques while exploring stitching as a mindful, creative practice. Using simple patterns inspired by garden silhouettes and botanical forms, students will create a small embroidered portrait that celebrates the beauty of nature through line, texture, and handwork.

$10/person. Registration close June 10 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.

About the instructor

Hillary Waters Fayle has a background in fiber/textile design and a deep fascination and respect for nature & the environment. Hillary brings together materials and processes that express the union of humanity and the physical world, most often textile traditions in collaboration with botanical material. About The Farms

The Farms: An Allerton Folk School, offers classes, workshops, and gatherings focusing on art, outdoor education, science, storytelling, and wellness. All experiences value hands-on, experiential teaching and learning, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community.
