Stargazing at Eldorado Canyon State Park
Come explore the universe with us!
Overview
Ready to unlock the secrets of the cosmos?
Summer nights are the perfect time to enjoy the night sky, and what better place than deep in Eldorado Canyon State Park? Join us for an evening of stargazing where you'll have the opportunity to explore the expansive Milky Way, learn about the mythical heroes and tragedies in ancient constellations, and observe deep-sky wonders like the Hercules Cluster, a supernova remnant in the constellation Lyra, and the spectacular glowing tendrils of the Lagoon Nebula through a large telescope!
To get the most out of your night sky experience, come an hour early for an interactive indoor orientation to astronomy! You'll learn basics like how to find the North Star and some easy-to-find constellations, and also learn about the deep-sky objects that you'll see later that night through the telescope. Why does the Hercules Cluster have 300,000 stars spinning around each other like a swarm of bees? Or why does the Ring Nebula look like a ghostly donut through a telescope? Come early and find out!
Please arrive at the Eldorado Canyon State Park Visitor Center 15 minutes early to check in for our 7:00 program.
The program is free with a Colorado Parks and Wildlife State Park pass, otherwise admission is $10.
