Stewardship Sunday: Volunteer Work Day in Fremont

Containing almost 30,000 acres of estuarine habitat, uplands, open water, mudflats, salt ponds, and salt marshes, including much of southern San Francisco Bay, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides habitat for many wildlife.  Its purpose is to protect wildlife habitat for endangered species and migratory birds, and to offer opportunities for nature study. The Visitor Center and Nature Store in Fremont, is open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refugeis part of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex and is administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. TheSan Francisco Bay Wildlife Societyis a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Friends group supporting the education, interpretation, and research activities of San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuges.

Volunteer Work Days at the Refuge

Volunteer events to do trail maintenance, habitat restoration, cleanups, and more at the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge!

Help us with stewardship at the Refuge! We'll be picking up litter to help protect the wildlife living at the refuge while keeping the trails welcoming for visitors. Other activities may include wood staining and painting.This event is suitable for families. All gloves and tools will be provided, so just make sure to dress comfortably and bring a can-do attitude.Please arrive promptly at 9:50am to allow time for check-in before we get started.Please note, volunteers under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.Other Considerations:<ul><li>Driving Directions: We recommend using Google Maps to navigate to 1 Marshlands Road, Fremont, CA 94555.</li><li>If you need any accommodations or would like to know more about volunteer hours, please don't hesitate to reach out to watershedwatchers@sfbayws.org.</li><li>Wear comfortable clothing, long pants, sun protection and layers, and closed-toe shoes - all that you don't mind getting dirty!</li><li>Restrooms will be available on-site in the form of an ADA-compliant portable toilet and hand-washing station.</li><li>Bring a reusable water bottle to help reduce plastic waste!</li></ul>This program is brought to you by the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBWS) and US Fish &amp; Wildlife Service with support from Cargill, Inc. and Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP).
