Class Description:In this 8 class course we will be knitting our first pair of socks together! Techniques we will cover: The magic loop technique, knitting in the round, structural knitting, and kitchener stitch. This is an advanced course for those who feel confident at basic knitting and are ready to level up their knitting skills. It's also a great follow up course for those who have completed the beginner knitting course. Each attendee will receive a copy of the knitting pattern and (if purchased as an add on) a sock knitting kit which includes a pair of Chiaogoo size 1 circular knitting needles, and 2 balls of sock yarn (one for the body of the sock and one for contrast color cuff, heel, and toe). We have scissors, measuring tape, stitch markers, and yarn needles for you to use. Please bring something to write with and something to write on! This course's classes are: May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24, 2024Optional Classes to finish sock two:  July 8, July 22, Aug 5, Aug 19, 2024 Course Structure Class 1: Explaining the anatomy of a sock, learn the magic loop method and knitting in the round. Attendees will begin knitting their sock in class.*Knitters will finish knitting the leg portion at home.Class 2: "Turning the heel" a knitters way of saying finishing the heel portion of the sockClass 3: Working the gusset of the sock (most challenging part of the course)*Knitters will finish knitting the foot portion at home.Class 4: Toe shaping, learn kitchener stitch, finish up one sock.Classes 5-8: These 4 classes are going to be a repeat of the first 4 classes. They are optional but recommended so you don't get "second sock syndrome" meaning you finish one sock and get too lazy to finish the second!   Graduates of this course will have the opportunity to join our <a href="https://eventbrite.oldmanhustle.net/o/the-nest-34238788481" title="https://eventbrite.oldmanhustle.net/o/the-nest-34238788481" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stitch &amp; Bitch Knitting Club</a> for a supportive community of knitters and continuous knitting support and education on your next project. Supplies: Purchase an optional sock starter kit when checking out and you will be provided all supplies to complete the course.  If you want to bring your own supplies you will need:Size 1 Circular Knitting Needles 30-40" Light fingering sock weight yarn  * No refund is given for any missed classes in the course. It is your responsibility to come to each class. If a class needs to be missed you can communicate with Nina.

<h3>Meet Your Host, <a href="https://shopninacherie.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nina Cherie</a></h3>Nina Cherie is a limited edition home textiles brand with a focus on vibrant color interactions and design. Each piece is created with the intention to bring playful energy into a given space. Handmade in her home studio just south of Boston, Nina creates each piece from start to finish with the help of her knitting machine. Using sustainable materials and careful craftsmanship she hopes that each item be passed down, the same way her Nana's knits have been passed down to her.Nina fell in love with textiles during her second year at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She was fascinated when she stumbled into the fibers closet of her weaving classroom, she described it to be a "Harry Potter" closet with endless magical yarns scattered on all the tall shelves with a creepy old ladder to reach the highest shelves. This was when she found her happy place. After receiving her BFA she moved forward in full force as a working artist by building her brand and taking custom orders. She hopes to spread playfulness and comfort through all her creations.
