It's poncho summer! Spend your Monday evening outside in Dexter Park for 5 weeks and leave with a one of a kind, customizable poncho. Open to all levels of crocheters.
This class will focus on creating your dream summer poncho. Open to all levels of crocheters. There are several different patterns to choose from, and we will gather in Dexter Park in the top right corner of the park, near the intersection of Hollywood Road & Dexter Street (see map).
The class will meet Monday evenings, 6-8pm in Dexter Park (if it rains, we will meet at The Nest) Starting June 8th, ending July 6th (5 weeks).
Class Structure: Hands-on crochet class taught by textile lover and instructor Keelin Maloney. We will meet on Monday evenings starting June 8th for 5 weeks. Class starts at 6pm and ends at 8pm. We will meet at Dexter Park near the playground. If there is rain on the forecast we will meet at The Nest. You will meet with 7 other learners!
Who You Are: Any level of crochet experience. There are a variety of patterns to choose from based on your crochet knowledge.
Class Curriculum:
Week one- pick patterns and go over crochet stitches, measure for poncho
Week two- start poncho and work on increasing
Week three- work week
Week four- Work week
Week five- Apply beads to poncho and talk about finishing techniques.
Participant Outcomes: Participants will learn how to crochet a poncho and how to apply beads. We will be referring to a written pattern.
What's Included: Participants will have access to different patterns.
What to Bring: Yarn of choice -thin cotton yarn suggested, but truly any yarn that speaks to you! Please bring your own hook, and we will talk about what beads to purchase in class!
