Summer's End Stargazing: Urban Astronomy at Widewater State Park
Come view the Summer constellations one more time before the Winter ones move in. Enjoy s'mores by the fire with our rangers.
With the use of a Celestron telescope, view the astral bodies up close and learn about the history of the stars. You will also learn how to capture night sky photos with a smartphone by adjusting the settings to get the most stars, colors, and views. You are encouraged to bring your own telescope, binoculars, blankets, and chairs to be comfortable while participating.
Programs will take place at the Aquia Picnic Area fire pit and requires pre-registration. Your vehicle must be inside the gates before the park closes, so please arrive 15 minutes early to pay for parking at the contact station and get oriented with the viewing area.
Dress for the weather and bring a hot drink! We will be by an open fire with s'mores, but there will be no heated indoor areas available.
If inclement weather occurs, please check this page for cancellations before coming to the park.
