Ted's Quest for the Perfect Planet
Blast off on a solar system quest with Ted's Space Adventure and The Late Summer Triangle
Join us at the Blake Planetarium for a fun-filled journey through the Solar System and the late summer night sky. Designed especially for young audiences and their families, this program combines music, exploration, and astronomy in an engaging adventure that's sure to spark curiosity.
Our feature presentation, Ted's Space Adventure, follows Ted as he searches for the perfect place to plant his beloved plant. To grow successfully, his plant needs sunshine, rain, and healthy soil, but finding all three proves to be quite a challenge! As Ted travels from planet to planet, audiences will sing along while discovering why some worlds are too hot, too cold, too dusty, or too poisonous for life as we know it. Along the way, young explorers will learn about the unique characteristics of the planets in our Solar System and what makes Earth such a special place to call home.
Following the feature, guests will explore the late summer night sky and learn how to find one of the season's most famous celestial landmarks: the Summer Triangle. Formed by three bright stars, Vega, Deneb, and Altair, the Summer Triangle is easy to spot and serves as a gateway to many other constellations and deep-sky objects. Families will learn how to locate this giant pattern overhead and use a simple partial-sky star map to continue their stargazing adventures long after their visit to the planetarium.
This program is perfect for young children, first-time planetarium visitors, and families looking to explore the wonders of space together.
