One of the main reasons is narrative tempo.

Most writers simply don't realize how relentlessly fast their story pacing needs to be.

Especially since agents and managers are now only signing writers who can establish character and story lightning quick, but in an organic and authentic way as opposed to forced, expositional or heavy-handed.
