Who will you meet at The Poetry Brothel?

Our poets include heiresses, angels, soft boys, scientists, goddesses, and the Madam herself. Our divination services are by Holy Crow, the bejeweled mystic and Jezmina von Thiele of Romanistan, who spends most of their time as an ancient forest. Burlesque and drag beauties grace our stage as well!

Why is it called The Poetry Brothel? Is it a brothel?

We call ourselves The Poetry Brothel because we provide an intimacy service (private reading) for money.  As artists, we believe that placing sex work at the center of our framework helps spark conversations and destigmatize the  profession. We are a largely no-contact literary event.

Question 3

How does it work? Do I have to interact?

Accepted Answer

The Poetry Brothel is a cabaret; you can sit and watch a talent-packed mainstage without engaging in the immersive aspect of the event. However, we strongly advise you to get a private reading, as it is a life-changing experience! Purchase a token to procure a private reading with your chosen poet.

What's the difference between ticket levels?

Accepted Answer

VIP ticket holders receive priority seating with a table, access to a separate bar, and a swag bag including a free token for a reading. General Admission is standing room/seating as available and Pay What You Want is the same as GA, our way of making art accessible to all.

Question 5

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Themed costumes and/or vintage formal wear are encouraged but not required. Leather, lace, feathers, fur, corsets, sequins, tuxedos, and anything that makes you feel fabulous will earn you a nod from The Madam.

Who would enjoy this show?

Accepted Answer

This is a 21+ event for the poetry curious or curious in general. Art lovers, knowledge seekers, sapiosexuals, cocktail afficionados, witches, the kink community, our queer family, and anyone with an open mind and heart will find enjoyment here.
