The Poetry Brothel was founded in NYC in 2007. It is an immersive literary cabaret that fuses poetry, advocacy, burlesque, vaudeville, live music, visual art, magic, mysticism, and one-on-one poetry experiences.

The Poetry Brothel is an immersive literary cabaret. Inspired by the turn-of-the-century brothels in New Orleans, Paris, and Buenos Aires, many of which functioned as safe spaces where fringe and avant-garde artists could experiment and perform their work, The Poetry Brothel presents a rotating cast of poets, each operating within a carefully crafted character, who impart their work in public readings, spontaneous eruptions of poetry, and most distinctly, as purveyors of private, one-on-one poetry readings.To kick off our fall season, The Poetry Brothel will take over the Kings County Distillery at 299 Sands St in Brooklyn and transform the room into their stage. Consider this show a Poetry Brothel happy hour! We will have reduced ticket and token prices so you can purchase readings to your hearts content. This show will feature our incredible cast alongside DJ Oatmeal and featured reader Leah V !!Doors will open at 6:30pm and performances will start at 7:00pm, with one-on-one readings taking place over the entire evening.
