Join us for the Opening Reception of our newest solo exhibition THE SENSUAL LAND, 50 Years of Bodyscapes, a Retrospective of Allan Teger
Jackson Junge Gallery is proud to present THE SENSUAL LAND, a solo exhibition celebrating 50 years of Bodyscapes® created by in-house photographer Allan Teger. Bodyscapes® evolved from Teger’s study of psychology. He wanted to demonstrate in art the ideas that he was studying and teaching, so in 1975 turned to photography as the medium to illustrate the coexistence of two realities. Teger creates his images by placing toys and miniatures on the body and shooting the picture as a single exposure. Through this method, he captures an example of two realities coexisting – the picture can be seen as a landscape and also as a body. This retrospective will exhibit rare and special mementos from Teger’s creative journey like one-of-a-kind images with cancelled negatives attached, stereoscopic view cards, color bodyscapes, zodiac series, “bodystocking scapes” and more. Teger has said it’s been “a long strange trip!” and it will be fun and interesting to show the whole story!
