The Spirit of '76
Relive the momentous events of the American Revolution in the year 1776 with Keene State College History Professor Gregory Knouff.
1776 was a year unprecedented events in the course of the American Revolution. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th in Philadelphia, officially proclaiming America's freedom from Great Britain. New Hampshire created the first state constitution in U.S. history. General George Washington crossed the Delaware River and captured British and Hessian soldiers at the Battle of Trenton.
Professor Gregory Knouff, Chair of Keene State College's Department of History, will present his analysis of these and other events during that momentous year to illuminate the shifting fortunes faced by the nascent United States of America in that pivotal year.
