Tidelines is a space to build among an intimate cohort of other movement organizations experimenting with and practicing shared leadership.
Tidelines is a space for organizations and movement groups ready to get connected to a peer learning space. It is a cohort experience designed to affirm the practices that ensure longevity and resilience for shared leadership amidst rising threats to democratic practice and cooperation.
Utilizing individual team and group coaching, storytelling, case studies, and more, we'll explore what shared leadership can accomplish for our movements, our communities, and collective imaginations. We'll surface inquiries that go beyond organizational structure and go deep into the cultural and individual terrains of change that are required to sustain a shared leadership practice.
The cohort provides leadership teams from across the movement ecosystem with space to share draft thinking, develop connection, cross-pollinate ideas and experiments, refine strategy, and clarify their North Star for their shared leadership practices. Whether it's other organizations who are trying on different leadership shapes or are zooming out to explore the importance of shared leadership in creating liberatory worlds, Tidelines is an opportunity to build among an intimate cohort of other movement organizations experimenting with and practicing shared leadership.
Who is Tidelines for?
The cohort is designed for shared leadership teams within organizations that have 2 or 3 members. Leadership teams might include 2 or more lead members of a leadership council, 2 or more co-directors, or any combination of 2-3 leadership level positions working as a team in an organization.
Some indicators that Tidelines would be a good fit for your group or organization:
- Your team has spent a year or more trying on shared leadership;
- You are a solo ED in an organization that has past experience with shared leadership teams that have dissolved but are interested in continuing to promote shared leadership/distributed leadership practices;
- Your team has working together for a year or more and are shifting to a new formation but haven’t quite landed it yet;
- You're committed to a model that’s working for you and want to deepen your relationships and shared leadership practice;
- You want to learn from others about experiments in shared leadership.
This program is not ideal if you are looking for “the answer” or if you do not feel ready to share about your experiences in group space.
Tidelines includes:
- Weekly live workshop sessions for a total of 4 sessions
- Optional 1-hour coaching calls with an AORTA coach and your leadership team

Access information
- Zoom: We will be meeting via Zoom. Because we will often use shared visuals (slide decks, the zoom chat, and other types of digital interface), we ask that you plan to use a laptop, computer, or tablet instead of a mobile phone. This will increase how easy and possible it is for you to engage in the content. If that’s a challenge for you, just let us know! During many points of the program, you may be navigating between two windows: Zoom and a collaborative slide deck. The facilitators will occasionally share their screens during portions of the sessions. We will also read aloud and describe all slides used.
- Breaks: In all of our sessions, we will take at minimum, a 5 minute and a 15 minute break. These breaks will be timed to adapt to the needs of the group.
- Captions: We will offer automated Zoom captioning during our sessions.
- Breakout rooms: We will occasionally have small group breakouts during the sessions.
- Chat: During our sessions, we rely heavily on the chat function. We will always pause to give you time to turn your attention to using the chat, and we will synthesize what we see so you don’t have to read all of the chat responses.
- Program Materials: All program sessions will be recorded and shared with program participants. Participants will also receive the slide decks, program handouts in our online learning space in Mighty Networks.
We will also survey participants before the program begins to understand how we can best meet your access needs.

After registration, your organization will receive an email with a link to submit payment for the program. Your registration will not be completed until payment is received.
