Tualatin River Discovery Day 2026

Join us for the event most associated with the long history of Tualatin Riverkeepers, as we paddle from Tualatin Community Park to Metro's Native Plant Center. The first Tualatin River Discovery Day was organized to raise awareness of the Tualatin River, its wildlife and the health of the water, environment and people. Tualatin Riverkeepers is proud that this tradition has continued on, giving thousands of paddlers a chance to explore the Tualatin River.

This self-guided 3.6-mile paddle hosted by Tualatin Riverkeepers includes the Tualatin Tales guidebook which highlights wildlife and history specific to this section of the river.

Volunteer safety boats will be stationed along the route to ensure a safe event. Boats will launch from 8:45am to 11:30am and participants will paddle downriver. Bathrooms, refreshments, and representatives from our sponsoring organizations will be there to greet you at the takeout site.

Tualatin Riverkeepers will provide a shuttle at the end of the trip back to the starting parking area at Tualatin Community Park. There are many parking lots located in Tualatin Community Park. The park can also be accessed via TriMet lines 76 and 97, and the WES Commuter Rail.

This paddle trip is designed for first time paddlers, families with children, experienced paddlers – everyone is welcome. Participants can rent a canoe, single kayak, or double kayak (including life jackets and paddles) for $40 or may bring their own for the shuttle cost of $10.
