In this beginner-friendly woodturning class, you’ll learn how to turn your very own wooden bowl using a midi lathe and Rockler’s easy-to-use carbide turning tools. Guided step-by-step by an experienced instructor, you’ll shape, hollow, smooth, and finish a bowl approximately 6" in diameter, gaining the confidence and foundational skills needed to continue your turning journey.
What You’ll Do:
- Mount your bowl blank onto the lathe
- Learn proper stance, tool control, and safe turning techniques
- Shape and hollow your wooden bowl using beginner-friendly carbide turning tools
- Refine the form with smoothing cuts
- Sand your bowl to a smooth finish
- Apply a food-safe finish to bring out the natural grain

- Use of a Laguna 12|16 Midi Lathe
