Whimsical Winter: William T. Davis Trail Stewardship

At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. Free tours offer insights into ongoing development and unmatched views, and recreational programs provide opportunities to experience the hills and waterways before the park officially opens.

Volunteer Events

Join the Freshkills Park Alliance and NYC Parks for a stewardship volunteer project at FKO + Studio Gallery. This volunteer project will assist in making Freshkills Park trails more accessible by maintaining trails, gardens, structures and removing invasive plant species.Location: We will meet at the FKO + Studio and Gallery located at 2252 Richmond Ave. Staten Island, NY 10314.Parking is available in our parking lot at the corner of Draper Place and Travis Ave. adjacent to our FKO Building.Gear: Please dress appropriately for outdoor winter conditions. Wear sturdy, closed toe-shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Please also bring water, a snack, and sunblock. PPE will be provided and are required during the project.Technology: Feel free to take photos but consider carefully before bringing any electronic devices with you as they may possibly get wet, damaged, or dropped during the project.Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program. Participants must be Ages 16+
