Winter Day Camp in the Mojave Desert

Welcome to Clark County, Nevada 4-H!Interested in joining 4-H? There are a few ways that students can be involved in the 4-H Program in Clark County.Youth and families can join an existing 4-H club around the county. Clubs are open to youth ages 9-19. Children between 5-8 (Cloverbuds) are welcome to attend club meetings but have to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Check out the clubs shared on our Eventbrite profile for club information and meeting dates.Youth are also welcome to join any of the programs and classes that Clark County 4-H offers. These include multi-session programs, day camp, and overnight camps. It began a century ago as an educational program for the nation's rural youth. Today, 4-H meets the needs of and engages young people in positive youth development experiences. 4-H is the youth development education program of University of Nevada, Reno Extension.4-H is the largest out-of-school youth organization in the United States with over 7 million members. There are over 49,000 young people engaged in 4-H programs across the state of Nevada alone. The 4-H program promotes life skills development through an expanding number of delivery modes: 4-H community and project clubs, military and 4-H after-school programs, special interest groups, school enrichment, library programming, recreational and community center partnerships, camping opportunities and much more.4-H participants are all youth, ages 5 to 19, taking part in programs provided as the result of actions planned and initiated by Extension personnel in cooperation with volunteers and families. 4-H is characterized as being community-centered, volunteer-led, Extension staff supervised, research-based, home and family-oriented, publicly and privately funded and responsive to change. 4-H Day Camps

Clark County 4-H offers a variety of educational day camps and multi-day summer camps tailored to youth development. These programs feature hands-on STEAM activities, cooking, arts and crafts, outdoor environmental exploration, and leadership development.

In partnership with Get Outdoors Nevada, Clark County Extension 4-H is hosting a Winter Day Camp in the Mojave Desert!Join us for this all-day educational workshop along with a field trip to the Desert National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Youth will learn about desert flora and fauna, hiking trails in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area, guided tours, and other great activities!This camp is open to youth in Clark County, Nevada ages 8 through 18. The cost is $15 per child. Registration is required as spaces are limited so sign up ASAP.Camp is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Monday, December 20, 2021. Participants will meet at AD Guy Knowledge Center, 817 N. St. Las Vegas, NV 89106, then will be bussed to Desert National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center where they will engage in activities and have lunch. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Layering of clothing is suggested as the weather is unpredictable. Mask are required while indoors as we are following COVID safety guidelines.
