Women's Self-defense Seminar

StrongHER was founded in 2021 with a rebellious spirit and a big dream of helping every woman and girl uncover and rediscover their strength from the inside out. Our goal is to connect women & girls everywhere through specialized mental health therapy and coaching, educational support groups, and self-defense training. We believe that women thrive with connection and camaraderie. We also believe that where you have been does not determine where you can go and what you will achieve. We believe in reclaiming our stories together, through proactive and preventative emotional, mental, and physical fitness. We believe in holistic healing through traumas and rewriting our narratives by becoming StrongHER® inside and out. We believe that TogetHER we are StrongHER!The Founder of The StrongHER Initiative is a licensed mental health therapist, a Fit to Fight® Black Belt Defensive Options Instructor, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt, Yoga Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer atKrav OzChantell Prestcott-Hollander uses her unique background in both mental health and fighting to help women uncover strength inside and out through carefully planned events that will allow women to connect with others and uncover their fighting spirit both physically and mentally. Chantell's unique background also serves to inform best practices and research when discussing the emotional and psychological responses in a self-defense scenario and to help participants understand the predatory mindset.

ABOUT THE EVENT: The StrongHER® Initiative and Krav Oz are proud to present this uniquely-developed woman-led workshop goes beyond teaching just the physical components of self-defense and approaches self-protection from the mindset of the attacker. This research-based and trauma-informed seminar includes insights from law enforcement officers and mental health professionals that will help you be better able to, not only physically defend yourself, but to better predict and prevent violent encounters through a better understanding of predatory behavior.The two-part seminar begins with a guided conversation that gives insight into an attacker mentality and develops our ability to recognize pre-attack indicators and predatory behaviors. Participants will leave with a simple model that they can use to evaluate behaviors and feel more confident in their ability to avoid and dissuade unwanted and predatory behavior.Second, participants will learn the foundations of self-defense from striking and blocking to defenses for common grabs and attacks. In addition to learning individual techniques, you will have the chance to employ them in fun, challenging application drills that will have you asking for more! Participants will have the opportunity to participate in our widely acclaimed program endorsed by several area universities, including Georgetown and American University, where Chantell regularly teaches the principles of self-defense and self-protection to students, faculty, and staff. Chantell is a Licensed Counselor, Fit to Fight® Black Belt Krav Maga/Defensive Options Instructor, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt, and Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor at Krav Oz, where she and her husband operate a self-defense and fitness center. She uses her counseling background to inform best practices and research when discussing the emotional and psychological responses in a self-defense scenario and to help participants understanding the predatory mindset.  She is passionate about helping women uncover their own strength from the inside out through self-defense, and fitness.
