WRISE Week: Giving Back at Growing Gardens

Join WRISE CO for a hands-on volunteer day at Growing Gardens in Boulder as we celebrate WRISE Week and its theme of "Giving Back." This is a chance to step away from the desk, get our hands in the soil, and make a tangible difference in our local community. Growing Gardens is a beloved Boulder nonprofit dedicated to connecting people with sustainable agriculture, fostering food security, and providing educational programs that bring the community together. By volunteering our time and energy, we'll be directly supporting their mission while building connections with fellow WRISE members.

Beyond giving back, this event is a great opportunity to learn something new. You'll gain firsthand insight into sustainable agriculture and regenerative growing practices—seeing up close how local food systems work and the care that goes into cultivating them. It's a refreshing, meaningful way to spend part of your day, and a reminder that the work we do for our communities can be just as rewarding as the work we do at our jobs.

We know this event falls during the work week, so we encourage you to check with your employer about volunteer time off (VTO) or paid volunteer days—many companies offer these benefits and are happy to support employees giving back to local causes. Consider taking a half day to join us; it's the perfect way to recharge, connect with others, and contribute to something bigger. We hope you'll come dig in, learn, and give back alongside us!

Please be sure to wear clothing appropriate for being outside and in a garden/field area: closed toe shoes, sunscreen, hat, and water.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided as well!

WRISE Colorado events are open to people of all genders, whether they are WRISE members or not, who support our mission of advancing women in the renewable energy and sustainability industries and creating equity and fostering inclusion.
