Your Voice Matters: Self-Advocacy & Informed Consent Training

Ancient Song is a national birth justice organization working to eliminate maternal and infant mortality and morbidity among low-income Black and Latinx people. We do this by ensuring that all pregnant, postpartum, and parenting people of color have access to high-quality, holistic doula care and services regardless of their ability to pay. We provide doula training and services, offer community education, and advocate for policy change to support reproductive and birth justice.

The Birth Justice Institute is hosting community outreach events, policy, advocacy sessions, and empowering education workshops!

Join us for an empowering and informative training designed to help you understand your rights, strengthen your voice, and confidently advocate for yourself in maternal healthcare settings.Your Voice Matters is a community-centered training focused on self-advocacy and informed consent—because every mother deserves to be heard, respected, and fully informed when making decisions about their care.In this session, we will explore:<ul><li>What self-advocacy looks like in healthcare settings</li><li>Understanding informed consent and your rights as a patient</li><li>How to ask questions and communicate with providers confidently</li><li>Common barriers to advocacy and how to navigate them</li><li>Tools and language you can use during prenatal, birth, and postpartum care</li></ul>This training is especially important for Black mothers and birthing people, who often face disparities in care. Our goal is to equip you with knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies to protect your health and your voice.✨ Come learn, connect, and leave empowered.
