Living with Fire: The Future of Our Forests
Join BTWC for a pub talk on forests, fire, and how Northern Colorado communities can build a more resilient future.
Join Big Thompson Watershed Coalition for Living with Fire: The Future of Our Forests, a pub talk and panel discussion at City Star Brewing in Berthoud.
Fire has always been part of Colorado’s forests, but the way fire moves through our landscapes has changed. As Northern Colorado communities continue to face growing wildfire risk, we need to think not only about reducing risk, but also about preparing our forests and communities to live with fire.
This panel will bring together representatives from Big Thompson Watershed Coalition, The Nature Conservancy, Colorado State Forest Service, and the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute for a conversation about the future of our forests and communities. Panelists will discuss forest health, wildfire risk, prescribed fire, pre-fire planning, and the social challenges that come with building more fire-adapted landscapes.
The conversation will explore how forestry can help prepare landscapes for future fire, why prescribed fire is an important tool for long-term forest resilience, and how communities and private landowners can be part of the solution.
This free event is a chance to learn, ask questions, and engage in an important conversation about what a healthier, more resilient future could look like for forests and communities across the Northern Front Range.
The first beer is on BTWC for the first 20 people who RSVP on Eventbrite and attend the event!
